Thank you for tuning in!

Roxanne’s story is an inspiring one. Her story, and others like it, fuel our passion for supporting and advocating for youth’s health. La Clinica’s School-Based Health Centers work hard to provide culturally appropriate, quality, and accessible healthcare for all. We always aim to meet youth where they are at, regardless of backgrounds!

We are so proud of Roxanne for sharing her story! It truly speaks to how important it is for youth to have a trusted ally in their lives. It is essential to understand that underlying health conditions can often be rooted in life experiences. Trauma is prevalent in the lives of our youth and having trauma-informed healthcare providers allow for youth to begin to process their experiences and receive appropriate treatments.

When we are talking about life experiences, it is vital to know, “The Body Keeps the Score.” In Bessel van der Kolk M.D.’s book “The Body Keeps the Score,” it becomes apparent how our physiological responses to our experiences present themselves in our bodies.

There were some deep thoughts in this conclusion. I am so thankful for everyone’s participation and vulnerability. This week is only at the half way mark and my heart is full of joy and reflection.
