Mindfulness is living your life from moment to moment. Although it is sometimes efficient to live our lives on autopilot from one thing to the next, it is not effective. Living in autopilot can sometimes come with negative emotional states and behaviors. Living in autopilot usually means you have habitual routines— in some cases, these routines may not be positive.
Mindfulness allows us to slow down and take a look at what is around us, externally and internally. We can look at things objectively rather than subjectively. When you are mindful about your life moment to moment, you allow yourself to get curious about your emotions, thoughts, or behaviors. You can then ask yourself whether your feelings, opinions, or actions align with what you want in your life.
When you begin to focus on mindfulness in your life, it is common to become aware of yourself on a level that you had not achieved ever before, which in turn allows you to become more accepting of yourself and others. The positive impact mindfulness can have on your confidence, and the way you choose to love yourself is grand. It cultivates space and perspective.
