National Health Center Week August 9-15th is an annual celebration to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. This year’s theme is “Lighting the way for healthier communities today and in the future.”
An Insightful Journey has collaborated with Administrative Assistant Patricia Gutierrez at La Clinica de La Raza’s School-Based Health Centers to host virtual events throughout the week, highlighting the mission and accomplishments of the School-Based Health Centers.
To receive mental health services, people need to have access to healthcare. When we look at marginalized individuals, groups, and communities, they are not always afforded healthcare due to social issues. When there is access, it is not always quality primary and preventative care or has limitations and restrictions. Inaccessibility is problematic because mental health issues can lead to physical health issues and Vis versa.
